Group ukulele where students play together from day one. Two levels keep beginners and returning players in the right pace group.

What kids do in Group Ukulele

  • Beginning and Advanced levels keep new and returning players paced together.
  • Ukulele is provided — nothing to buy on day one.
  • Play-along songs from week one.
  • Six or fewer kids per class.
  • Small-group ensemble work in Advanced level.
What we learn

Students learn first chords, strumming patterns, and how to switch chords cleanly mid-song. The Advanced level adds fingerpicking and ensemble parts.

How class flows

Class warms up together, learns or revisits the week's song, breaks into pairs for trickier chord changes, then plays the song top-to-bottom as a group.

What to bring

Ukuleles are provided. If your child has one at home, they're welcome to bring it — otherwise we've got them covered.

She just loves the ukulele. I wasn't planning on it, but I bought her one and she plays it all the time. Great class with wonderful teachers.

Why group classes

Three reasons kids stick with the studio.

  • Collaboration builds better musicians.

Kids learn faster when they play with others. Listening, timing, and confidence grow on the bandstand.

  • Lower pressure, higher confidence.

Group classes take the spotlight off any one student. Mistakes are part of the music, not a performance review.

  • More fun means more learning.

When students love showing up, they practice without being asked. The hobby sticks.

Frequently asked

Questions parents ask about Group Ukulele.

Yes. That’s exactly who group class is for. New players learn faster and are motivated when they’re surrounded by other new players. The room takes the pressure off any one kid, and the teacher meets each student where they are.

Always. Every program offers a trial class. Drop in, see if the class feels right, then decide. No commitment until you’re sure.

Unlimited makeups. Sick day, sports tournament, family trip. All enrollments come with unlimited make-ups. No ‘use it or lose it.’

Not at all! Our classes for the littlest ones are full of activities that not only enhance child development but also ignite a love of music. It’s where lifelong musicians get their first nudge.

We offer year-round enrollment, so there’s no need to wait for a specific season to get started. Students naturally progress and level up throughout the year, and that’s all part of the process. We encourage families to begin whenever their child is ready—because the best time to start is now.

We know that schedules change, as do kids! We offer a variety of class types and times. We can work with you to find the right fit for your schedule. And if nothing works? You may withdraw with 30 days notice.

Yes — and for many students, group learning is actually more effective than traditional private lessons. That’s why we encourage all students to begin their ukulele journey in a group setting. Group ukulele combines individual skill development with the power of ensemble playing. Students learn in a social, supportive environment where they stay engaged, motivated, and encouraged by their peers. From the very beginning, they’re not just learning chords and techniques — they’re learning how to make music with others.

Less than you think. We’d rather a kid practice 10 happy minutes a day than 30 forced. The class structure does most of the heavy lifting. Home practice is for reinforcement, not survival.

Yes. While we do have a ukulele they may borrow during an initial class, they’ll need their own uke for class each week as well as home practice. If you need help finding the right instrument, we’re happy to help!

Two formal recitals a year (winter is festive, spring is dressier) at Velocity Church, a few miles from the studio. Plus regular in-class showcases. Performance is part of how we teach. Not a stressful capstone.

Regular practice throughout the week is encouraged for consistent progress. But we’d much rather see 10 happy, focused minutes than 30 minutes of frustration. And in the beginning, students need to build up their “tolerance” for the feeling of strings on their fingers.

Music is best when shared, so yes! There are performances. These are casual, often at the studio or out in the community. They’re optional but highly encouraged.

School band is fantastic when it’s available, but it usually starts in middle school and only covers band instruments. We start as young as zero, cover piano, guitar, ukulele, voice, and ensemble work. Our teachers specialize in young learners.

Enrollment includes everything your child needs to feel prepared, confident, and excited to learn. Students receive a song binder to organize a growing collection of repertoire and a music bag to hold all their supplies.

Ukulele enrollment includes a 4-month minimum commitment. Group ukulele works best when students learn and grow together over time. Each class builds on the last, and consistency is key — not just for skill development, but for confidence and group connection. If you decide to withdraw, we ask for 30 days’ notice.
